Quality and respect for the environment

The Santa Margherita Cooperative has chosen to apply a Quality Management System having ISO 9001 certification in the organization of work on members’ farms and in its packaging plant; it also applies a voluntary system of traceability in the food chain which is certified by an outside organization in accordance with the UNI 10939 standard. All this makes it possible to check products along their way from the greenhouse to their leaving the packaging plant, thus allowing timely collection of information and action, which adds still more value to our produce.
The objective of producing with the highest priority given to consumers’ health and respect for the environment has led to the decision to grow our produce using integrated defence methods, an agricultural technique that exploits natural defences and the regulatory mechanisms of ecosystems, thus keeping the use of chemicals to a minimum.
